Our Philosophy

You are not an octopus🐙

You are a human.

You are highly capable. You are good at a multitude of things. But you are a human, and humans have limits.

As the parent of a disabled or neurodivergent kid, a lot is expected of you and your time. Project Manager, Medical Scheduler, Insurance Care Coordinator, Advocate, Therapist, Researcher...and many more.

"The System" demands input, energy, advocacy, and experience to navigate effectively for the unique needs of your child.

Navigating these roles can leave you feeling stuck, isolated, and confused, unsure of where or if you can honestly share your individual experience. The frustration of repeating the same information on forms or to new providers only adds to the challenges.

A family of four joyfully jumps in the air, capturing a moment of happiness and togetherness.

What we believe

At Quilt, we believe:

  • Less stressed parents create healthier families and better outcomes for their children

  • Kids do well if they can–challenges are not an issue of will, but rather an issue of lagging skills or needed modifications to the environment

  • Every child deserves to work with educators, specialists, and supporters who believe in and actively work toward unlocking each child's unique gifts and highest potential

  • Everyone benefits from a supportive community, knowledgeable guides, and technology that enhances, not subtracts from, the quality of life

The Story of Our Name

Quilt embodies the intricate patchwork of specialists, educators, community resources, social media groups, and numerous other tools that each family stitches together to support their child's development.

Similar to a well-crafted quilt, our aim is for our community members to feel comforted, supported, and recharged after engaging with us.

Across cultures, quilting has a rich historical legacy of bringing communities together to express identity, foster creativity, and cultivate close-knit cultures—all essential elements in addressing the challenges we aim to assist parents in overcoming.
